AP Film ID Card Printing Guide

AP film is a double-sided glossy PVC sheet designed for inkjet ID card production without a dedicated card printer. Print shops across India use AP film because it bonds into a waterproof, non-tearable card after hot lamination — surviving humidity and daily wear that paper-based badges cannot handle. The workflow is straightforward: print the front on AP film, flip and print the back, then pass the sheet through a hot lamination pouch on an A3 lamination machine before die-cutting to CR80 size.

Sheet size depends on your output volume. A4 AP film suits print shops cutting multiple cards per sheet, while 4x6 Maxi sheets feed directly through photo printer trays for single-card production. Standard 180-micron thickness balances flexibility with rigidity after lamination. Always pair AP film with matched lamination pouches — 250 or 350 micron pouches seal the edges and prevent the ink bleed that cheaper cold-lamination methods cause in monsoon climates.
